Our researchers have developed an battery-like appliance which makes hydrogen production and storage safe, simple and cheap. The Hydrogen Battery (HYB) equipment produces hydrogen gas from deionized or distilled water via electrolysis. The speciality of the appliance is not only producing but also getting the hydrogen gas absorbed with a strong chemical bond in the storage material in the same process.
WHY IS THE HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGY SAFE?
The subject of the invention is the safe hydrogen producing-storing equipment. The hydrogen gas production and storage passes off in the same container. This way the hydrogen and oxygen can be gained periodically from the container while in between the periods the hydrogen is bound in the electrode in chemical bond as a compound. Because of the strong chemical bond the system is extremely safe.
WHAT IS THE MAIN ADVANTAGE?

The Hydrogen Battery equipment has been developed from materials that can be accessed all around the world, that’s why the mass production is low cost. The specific production cost is equal to the lead-acid batteries, while the energy density is similar to the lithium-based energy storage solutions.

The Hydrogen Battery are appropriate to supply hydrogen gas for fuel cell electricity producing equipment. Electricity generators can safely operate even in closed areas as opposed to fossil fuel operated generators.
ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
The HYB is not storing electricity but hydrogen, anyway it can be compared to the conventional batteries. A characteristic advantage is the weight/capacity ratio. In the case of a 12V 200 Ah VRLA battery there is 60 kg weight to ca. 2400 Wh energy content while in the case of HYB this ratio is more than fourfold. The significantly lower weight will mean advantage in the production, transport and installation.
